Off the Page
Off the Page is an ongoing series of readings of new, unpublished, unproduced plays or adaptations of non-theatre material for the stage by Bay Area playwrights. Readings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Sunday of every Main Stage production or five per year. The readings are done seated with no sets, costumes, or props, and utilize whatever lighting is being used for the mainstage production that is going on at the time.
On November 10, 2013, at 7 p.m., Off the Page will present its final production of 2013. Unhappily, this will be Off the Page Chairman Jim Colgan’s last production as he is retiring the first of the year and moving out of the area.
As a result of his departure, the Off the Page series will be suspended after the next production.
So, as a fitting end, Off the Page will present Jim’s newest play, The Fuhrer’s Mistress, a two act play based on the life of Eva Braun directed by Jim and featuring Amber Crane, Francis Serpa, and fellow Masquers Patricia Inabnet, Mary Kidwell, and Michelle Pond.
When Eva Braun met Adolf Hitler, she was only seventeen; he was in his forties. But despite that, she fell in love with him at first sight. They became lovers within a year of meeting. The Fuhrer’s Mistress follows the life of the lover of one of the world’s most infamous mass murderers from 1938 until their hurried marriage and mutual suicides in 1945.
Off the Page productions are free to all Masquers Season Ticket holders and to Masquers Members. General admission is $5.00. There is no need to make reservations.
Thank you very much for your continuing support of Masquers Playhouse and Off the Page, and we look forward to seeing you at our next production on November 10, 2013.
