Dear Masquers Family,
We are back and so excited to welcome you into the theatre once again, and we urge you to join us in our new beginning.
After a long, dark six years where our beloved historic theatre experienced structural damage that would have brought down the curtain for good.
Where, as a society, we faced a global pandemic that nearly collapsed the arts as we know them.
Where other artists and neighbors challenged us to ensure the stories we tell and the opportunities we provide embrace and empower everyone in the community – in life and art.
Masquers Playhouse rebuilt, reflected, and responded, answering the call to herald a new beginning. And we are asking you to join us.
I could not be more excited to be the new Managing Director of Masquers Playhouse at a time when we are on the cusp of such an exciting moment in our history. As we all collectively are eager to return to some semblance of normalcy, we recognize that times have changed in the last six years. As an identified home of storytelling and entertainment, we must better meet the needs of our community. We cannot do it alone, and we need your help.
In January, we launch our 66th season with an exciting slate of presentations, bringing new artists and voices into our freshly revitalized theatre. We are excited about this new dawn and welcoming new collaborations, such as working with local playwright Vicki Siegel, the first-ever performance art recipient of a Richmond Arts & Culture grant, to bring theater opportunities to local schools and community centers. A chance to grow and foster future partnerships! And we are thrilled to bring back favorite programs like our summer youth program while continuing to present high-caliber entertainment to our patrons and beyond who have been so generous and supportive of us and our rebuilding of the theatre.
We ask for your help and to encourage you to be a part of this exciting journey. I have spent my entire career and life immersing myself and my heart in community-based programming. I know and understand the value of involvement and giving everyone a seat at the table to build healthy, strong relationships that are rich and resilient. I cannot wait to bring people together from all corners of Richmond, West Contra Costa County, and the greater Bay Area to have their voices heard and stories celebrated.
In our 66th season, will you join us in our new beginning and become a part of this exciting time at Masquers Playhouse with a donation of $66?
We cannot do this without you. Your generous contribution will allow us to nourish and grow the high-quality programming for which Masquers has built our reputation.
Will you help us keep the lights on, curtain raised, and community opportunities flowing, as we work to make sure the shared voices and stories of our community are heard?
Thank you. Happy Holidays. I look forward to seeing you in our newly revitalized theatre in just a few weeks!
With gratitude,

Managing Director
