The wait is over! The Masquers Playhouse 2022 Season Tickets are on sale now. Season Ticket prices remain the same at $120.00 for all five main shows. You can change your performance dates at any time online or by calling the box office.
The first show is in rehearsal, sets are being designed and built, new lights and sound are in place, directors are directing and actors are on stage, and the pole in the audience is gone!
And what a season we’ve put together for our comeback from five years in the darkness. Many of you helped us pull together the resources we needed to rebuild the theatre and so we’ve designed a season that will make you sing, laugh, think, and shout for more:
AS YOU LIKE IT – January21-February 19: Relax, this is not your grandfather’s Shakespeare. The original music takes this classic to the Summer of Love in San Francisco with original music. All you need is love, you know.
Adapted and Directed by Rice Majors – Written by William Shakespeare
ROCKET MAN – March 25-April 23: Danny has put all his possessions on the front lawn with a sign that reads “Here’s my life. Make an offer.” Join Donny as he explores his obsession to find a parallel world somewhere out there through his attic skylight.
Directed by Jacquie Duckworth – Written by Steven Dietz
SORDID LIVES – June 3-July 2: Talk about uncovering skeletons in the closet! Peggy, a respectable Christian grandmother dies in a seedy motel after tripping over her lover’s wooden legs. The ensuing chaos of feuds, resentments, remorse and reconciliations prove to be fascinating and hilarious all in the same breath. (Leave kids at home!)
Directed by Carl Smith – Written by Del Shores
COMPARED TO WHAT? – August 26-September 24: It’s West Oakland in 1926 and two Pullman Porters are caught between the oft times dilemma of forming a union and the dangers of belonging to one. Success, hopes and dreams are only measured as such when compared to what?
Directed by Norman Gee – Written by Judith Offer
AMELIE, The Musical – November 11-December 10: An extraordinary young woman lives quietly in the world but loudly in her mind. Be inspired by this imaginative dreamer who finds her voice, discovers the power of connection, and sees possibility around every corner as she improvises small but surprising acts of kindness.
Directed by Enrico Banson – Written by Craig Lucas, Nathan Tysen, Daniel Messe, Jean Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant.
More good news: Season Ticket prices remain the same at $120.00 for all five main shows.
Included in the season ticket price is a special production of David Ives’ All in the Timing (February 25-March 6) – a set of short plays taking wordplay to new heights.
For Your COVID Safety: Until further notice, all audience members, performers, staff, and volunteers must be vaccinated in order to enter the theater.
