In March of 2016, we discovered some major damage to the Playhouse’s primary interior support structure (also known as “the beam”). In the interest of our patron safety, we made a difficult decision to close the theater to the public until we could develop a plan, raise the needed funds, and complete the repairs. This journey of fundraising and structural repairs has taken us far from our comfort zone of putting on great live theater productions. After a couple of years where it seemed we were making little to no progress, 2019 has been an amazing year! We have a great plan and great community partners. Even better, we are so close to fully funding the project. We are cautiously optimistic to reopen sometime during 2020.
