Masquers has a responsibility to keep up to date with the latest information and guidelines from Contra Costa County, the State of California, and the Centers for Disease Control. The information below will be updated as needed. If updated, the information will be reshared. Masquers Playhouse is committed to ensuring the safety of our volunteers, performers, and patrons.
UPDATE as of 3/24/2022: Contra Costa County and the State of California have rescinded the mask mandate and proof of vaccinations for businesses like Masquers. The Omicron peak is certainly behind us, but Covid is still something that we want to be mindful of. We believe firmly in rolling back precautions slowly and thoughtfully. We were closed too long to make hasty decisions that might end up closing us again. We know how tedious and frustrating different expectations and protocols can be as you go from business to business, but we hope you will support us with your patience and cooperation as we navigate this new chapter of COVID – from pandemic to endemic. For the duration of Rocket Man, we are still requiring proof of full vaccination at the door. Additionally, when in the theater, please keep your mask covering your mouth and nose. You may remove your mask when actively eating and drinking and we encourage you to be extra mindful of those around you. Spread out on the sidewalk in front of the theater to enjoy your refreshments.
If you have questions or concerns regarding how Masquers is fighting COVID, please email us at email@example.com or call 510-232-3888.
Until otherwise rescinded, Patrons visiting our theater must be:
Be Fully vaccinated: This means that it has been two weeks since your final dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or a single dose of the J&J vaccine. We strongly encourage everyone to have received a booster shot as well. Your vaccine card (physical or digital) and a valid ID must be shown to a volunteer at the door.
Get your digital vaccine record at MyVaccineRecord.cdph.ca.gov
Need to get your booster shot? Vaccines are widely available in the county from healthcare providers, pharmacies, and Contra Costa Health Service’s (CCHS) no-cost clinics – call 1-833-829-2626 or make an appointment online.
Stay Masked: A face mask is to be worn over the nose and mouth. Please stay masked unless you are drinking or eating. Staying masked is especially important when you are moving about the theater. Volunteers are expected to stay masked at all times. Actors will be unmasked when on stage performing. Face shields may not be worn in lieu of a face mask.
Answers to some frequently asked COVID-safety questions:
Are you requiring social distancing? Currently, Contra Costa County does not require social distancing or limiting capacity for venues with 100 people or fewer. We still offer general admission seating, so if having some distance is important to you, please let one of our volunteers know and we will do our best to accommodate this.
What about concessions? Updated 3/25 – For Rocket Man, we are so excited to offer concessions again! Please spread out and use the sidewalk in front of the theater to enjoy your refreshments. And, when you are finished eating, please make sure your mask covers your mouth and nose.
What else is being done to keep everyone safe? Masquers is committed to the thorough cleaning of all public spaces. Additionally, we’ve upgraded our air filters in the HVAC system and are providing hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility.
What happens if you cancel a performance or I can’t make it because I’m not feeling well? If a performance must be canceled for any reason, we will notify you about your tickets and your options for exchanges/refunds. Also, if you are not feeling well and cannot attend, please contact the box office, and we will help you to exchange the ticket for a later performance. Most importantly, if you are not feeling well, please do not come to the theater!
What protocols are being followed by cast, crew, and production volunteers? Cast, crew, and volunteers are fully vaccinated and boosted and are completing daily health screenings. Crew volunteers remain masked at all times. Additionally, Masquers has created a Covid Response Team that meets to discuss and triage situations that arise.
We are thrilled to have you join us but realize that some of our patrons may not feel comfortable returning to live theater just yet. Please know that we stand ready to greet you when you are ready.
