GYPSY AUDITIONS BY VIDEO
Taking into account the uncertainty around COVID-19 and the statewide “shelter in place,” and the date this restriction will be lifted, as well as making sure we are mindful of everyone’s health, we have decided to conduct the initial singing auditions for the Masquers Playhouse production of GYPSY, by VIDEO SUBMISSION ONLY.
STEP #1 – Sign up here!
STEP # 2 – After you have signed up, you will receive an email with in 48hrs with a link to upload your video submission. Additionally, you will receive a copy of the script and all additional info about the production.
It’s obvious that if called back, we can’t do callbacks by video. Unfortunately without knowing when the shelter-in-place and/or group-meeting-size limitations will be lifted, the exact date of callbacks is up in the air.
For the time being the original call back date of May 2nd from 11am – 3pm is still our best guess, but we are making plans for callbacks at a later date as well. If that changes, we will notify you as soon as possible.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and her mother, Rose, the ultimate show business mother. Mama Rose is determined that her younger daughter June will have a successful career, but after June elopes, Mama turns all her attention to her older, less talented daughter, Louise, who eventually becomes a burlesque stripper named Gypsy Rose Lee.
Regarded by many theatre professionals as the finest musical ever created, Gypsy is the ultimate tale of an ambitious stage mother fighting for her daughters’ success – while secretly yearning for her own. Set all across America in the 1920s and 30s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born, Arthur Laurents’ landmark show explores the world of two-bit show business with brass, humor, heart, and sophistication.
The celebrated score by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim boasts one glorious hit after another, including: “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” “Some People,” “You’ll Never Get Away from Me,” “If Momma Was Married,” “All I Need Is the Girl,” “You Gotta Get A Gimmick,” “Small World,” and “Together Wherever We Go.”
