Welcome to the FOURTH week of
Masquers on Demand
So, what do you think of Masquers On Demand so far? Send us a message and let us know!
This week, we bring you more exciting music from Birches Bend with a special guest! Sing for America brings the house down with a definite crowd-pleaser! Carl Smith takes you behind the scenes of the 2018 production of Little Women the Musical at Chanticleers Theatre. Enjoy more featured photography from Mark Decker. Four Eyed Jacks Productions, under the direction of Bill Chessman, invites you on a trip you’ll never forget with radio play Sub Standard. And finally, we are happy to offer an article from Interactive Resources that details our construction progress. Scroll on and enjoy!
Music
Don’t Think Twice – Lucy Khadder (fiddle) & Teo Quale (guitar)
Nothing cheers you up like some sunshine and socially-distanced music. Lucy is joined this week by Teo Quale of Jubilee, who in addition to being an award-winning mandolin player, can also play a mean guitar.
Birches Bend performed for Masquers Playhouse in 2018 for our holiday production Appalachian Christmas and also provided entertainment at last year’s film screening of White Christmas. They have become Masquers patron favorites! Learn more and support Manning Music Studios and Birches Bend.
SFA Chorus performs “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Watch Chester Pidduck and the SFA Chorus sing “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the 2016 Sing for America Benefit Concert at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on April 17, 2016. The Sing for America Foundation of San Francisco combines your love of the arts with social media skills to help you fund your charitable interests – arts, health, welfare – whatever social good you serve. Learn more about Sing for America.
Several in the Masquers family have performed with Sing For America over the years.
PERFORMANCE
“More than I Am” – Carl Smith & Heather Warren
When not managing Masquers Playhouse (or trapped inside because of a global pandemic), Carl Smith loves to perform around the Bay Area. In 2018, Carl played Mr. John Brooke, opposite the darling Meg March played by Heather Warren, at Chanticleers Theater in Castro Valley. Here’s their moving duet, recorded during vocal warm-ups before their closing performance. We can’t wait to see Heather on the Masquers stage.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARK DECKER
Stop and smell the roses. At least stop and admire gorgeous flowers photographed by Mark Decker.
Lux Aeterna is a phrase from the latin requiem mass that means “Light Eternal”. I’ve sung it many times in my years as a choral singer, but it has significance to me as a photographer because light is the very essence of photography. As an amateur photographer I’m always striving to make better use of the light I find in my photos, and now as a computer animation lighter I’m striving to create better light for each of my shots.
A MILESTONE FOR MASQUERS PLAYHOUSE
